Remote Monitoring
The most basic and essential IT responsibility that is commonly overlooked is that of maintaining a real-time awareness of your network's health and status. This crucial task is fundamental in evolving from a reactive to a proactive philosophy of managing your IT environment and taking corrective support measures to prevent a problem before it occurs.
Central to our Network and Performance Monitoring service, TNS will establish automated remote monitoring of select network hardware and screen a host of important metrics including: Processor, RAM and drive utilization, SNMP traps and event logs, up/down status of select services, as well as a myriad of other possible statistics. Any collected data that indicates a "red flag," or an impending concern, will in turn be reported back to the end-user as per pre-defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs) along with a professional recommendation on corrective actions. Furthermore, collected data as a whole, will be available to the end-user to review by means of reporting options.
In addition, TNS will reconfigure all appropriate applications that utilize alert notifications to use TNS as the primary contact. Common applications such as backup software and anti-virus suites often employ notification alerts to report impending issues or failures. With the change of notification to a TNS contact, we can respond to alerts that often go unnoticed in many IT environments.
This service provides:
- Initial inventory of all devices to be monitored
- On-site deployment of monitoring technology and configuration of communications link to TNS
- Client interview to define notification contacts and escalation procedures
- SLA-based reporting of "red flag" items including errors, alerts, and failures of covered devices
- Target dependent notification and escalation rules
- Notification to the designated client contact(s)
- Secure web-based reports of any SNMP and Remote Monitoring data, as well as any generated support tickets
- Data Collection, logging, and reporting
- Monthly collaborative review of these reports by a TNS associate
This becomes an extremely powerful tool when combined with the any Administration service option. This combination lends itself to a solution where TNS proactively monitors your network devices and could detect and resolve an issue before the end-user is aware that a problem even existed. Proactive maintenance is also performed as needed on a regularly scheduled basis.
Bandwidth Monitoring
Hardware infrastructure, while an essential component, is not necessarily the primary contributing factor to a network's speed and efficiency. Most network administrators completely overlook the importance of, and thus ignore completely, the vital aspect of bandwidth utilization.
TNS' Bandwidth Monitoring service is the next level in sophisticated network monitoring and administration. This service establishes in-depth monitoring and reporting of your bandwidth utilization, and follows through by allowing direct control via policy-based bandwidth management and prioritization. Network performance can be enhanced by limiting the amount of bandwidth consumed by low-priority or non-business related activities (such as streaming media, web-surfing, and peer-to-peer or file-sharing applications) and guarantee bandwidth for priority traffic thus improving the performance of bandwidth dependent applications such as: Database applications, email, ecommerce sites, VPN, Citrix, network printing, etc. Management policies allow dynamic administration based on user, application/device, or can provide customized real-time responses to ever-changing bandwidth-flow situations.
Furthermore, this service can be utilized between remote offices in order to not only guarantee application specific bandwidth between the sites, but also compress network traffic in order to achieve a high degree of bandwidth acceleration.
This "bandwidth shaping" service can be used at one or a combination of the following network junctures:
- Outside the Local Area Network (LAN) where it meets the Wide Area Network (WAN), to monitor and administer traffic flow to/from the outside world
- Between remote offices to ensure guaranteed bandwidth and accelerated communication between remote offices
This service provides:
- On-site deployment of monitoring technology and configuration of communications link to TNS
- Initial bandwidth utilization assessment
- Client interview to define notification contacts and escalation procedures
- Client interview to determine bandwidth management policies
- Secure web-based reports of detailed traffic analysis as well as performance-based trend reports
- Monthly collaborative review of reports by your TNS associate
